Arnika Dawkins Gallery is pleased to present Juneteenth Celebrating Freedom, a stunning virtual exhibition featuring photography by nationally renowned, mid-career, and emerging photographers. The exhibition and artists in participation, endeavor to continue a conversation about race in America and celebrate the freedom of our ancestors.

Millennial Ervin A. Johnson makes us confront issues that dominate our headlines in provocative work created in support of the Black Live Matter Movement.

 

Chester Higgins, a staff photographer with The New York Times for more than four decades, whose work notably features the life and culture of people of African descent.

 

Intertwining social documentary, art, and street photography, Builder Levy has been making photographs as objects of art that celebrate the human spirit for the past fifty years. 

 

Working extensively nationally and internationally, Shoccara Marcus’ photography focuses on fine art, portraits, and dance and reflects the body as a delicate subject. 

 

Aline Smithson is best known for her conceptual portraiture and a practice that uses humor and pathos to explore the performative potential of photography.

Brooklyn-based French and Senegalese visual artist and photographer, Delphine Diallo, whose powerful portraitures unmask and stir an uninhibited insight that allows her audience to see beyond the facade.

 

Allen Cooley, a celebrated fashion, entertainment and portrait photographer.
